§ 32-168. Following authorized emergency vehicles

(a) The driver of any vehicle other than one on official business shall not follow any authorized emergency vehicle traveling in response to a fire alarm or other emergency closer than 500 feet or drive into or park such vehicle within the block where such emergency vehicle has stopped in answer to a fire alarm or other emergency.

(b) Any person violating the provisions of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be fined not more than $100.00; upon a second conviction within one year thereafter, shall be fined not more than $200.00; and upon a third or subsequent conviction, shall be fined not more than $500.00.
